As I sit here staring at a computer screen and a blinking cursor trying to figure out how to convey the following message, I understand the vanity of man explained within the pages of Ecclesiastes. Honestly speaking, it is painful knowing some of the depths within the Word of God. In a world such as we live in today, all Christians are taught pretty much the same thing. Believe in any Jesus Christ and all is forgiven. Do you even know what you are forgiven for? Jesus said, “you shall know the truth, and the Truth shall make you free.” Pilate said to Jesus, “what is truth?”

The hope of Glory is Christ in you. In Colossians, Paul tells us about the mystery that has been hid from the beginning which is revealed to his saints. Do you know what this mystery is? Everyone in Christianity, and possibly the world, knows who Jesus Christ is. Although, what is this great mystery? I could probably go to anyone and ask them what Christians believe. Do you know anyone who can clarify what Paul is speaking about? Why? What does Colossians say about who this is revealed to? “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written that He takes the wise in their own craftiness.” – 1 Cor 3:19. The fact remains that we probably don’t have a clue what we’re talking about unless we have His Spirit.

How do we receive His Spirit? Is it by baptism? Is it by the baptism…

Imagine the world as if nothing was as it seems. Imagine what would take place if Jesus Christ’s teachings were literally true. Our Lord explained to us that His primary mission was to free the captives, restore sight to the blind, show us the way, and also to raise the dead. What would happen if all these things were true? If we were all blind, what would happen? If we were all in prison, what would be the result? If we were all conceived dead, what would become of us? Consider what could happen if these things were true. Could Jesus have been right? Could they be false? Has the Lord ever lied? Let the peace of GOD rule in your heart and always be thankful. How are we to let the peace of GOD reign within us? How are we to let go of the former self? How are we to put off the old man? Christians are called to eliminate their old sinful ways of thinking and to replace them with a completely new way of thinking. A life that’s possible due to the Holy Spirit living within us, the old man is symbolically replaced by Baptism. The new Man gets life by the receiving of Holy Spirit. What is the Baptism though? Within the pages of the Bible, we learn about Biblical fasting and what the acceptable fast is to the LORD. Jesus also teaches us about the two great commandments. We are to love the LORD God with all of our heart and love our neighbor as ourselves. According to the Word, these two principles go hand in hand.

In Matthew 12, there is a question from the Messiah: “Who is my mother? And who are my brethren?” The answer is like what the Bible teaches us about fasting. “For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Many of us, while reading the Bible, take at face value what others are teaching us without seeking the answers for ourselves. In the Gospel Of Matthew, we learn of the 40 day fast and temptations of Jesus Christ. Were you aware of the spiritual significance behind these verses and how they apply to us? Let’s begin with Chapter 4:1. “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

Let us take a moment to consider, if the LORD is the one true God, who are all of the other gods? Are they all of the things that we physically make with our hands? Is it our televisions, computers, and the stuff that many of us “worship?” Or, is it something far more simple, something easier to comprehend? Yet, in a way, it is the hardest thing to believe. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 10:38, “Now the just shall live by faith: but ifany mandraw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”

What does it mean to draw back from something or someone? Is it a refusal to believe or do what we are seeing or hearing? Could it be being told an idea with truth to back it up, yet, we still refuse to accept it? How about knowing to do something and…

I’ve always been fascinated by Jesus’ tale about the lost sheep of Israel. Why wouldn’t the shepherd just take his loss and ignore the one sheep that was most likely already devoured by the wolves? Plus, that shepherd may have jeopardized the lives of the other 99 sheep. Some who understood that narrative relate and were likely to have had a similar reaction to mine.

However, there are a few assumptions that need to be addressed. Foremost, if we disregard the lost sheep and continue to lose one sheep at a time, the sheepfold will soon be empty, and it will leave us wondering what happened. Is this something you’ve heard before? Every single person who doesn’t know the Gospelis a source of concern for us. In this life, we may come to understand many things about the Truth. Jesus and the Bible teach us many things about abstinence. There is an abundance of Bible verses about purity and chastity. To begin with, we will look at the honest words of the Messiah, “Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven.” Let’s take Jesus’ advice, and do just that. What is it about little children? That is a key to understanding how simple it actually is. Trust in the Father, be willing to relearn all that you thought to be true, and believe what the Spirit is telling you. The flesh lusts against the Spirit and vice-versa.
